I write this from an area just outside Ottawa. I am learning about the peoples whose land this was, as this is the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial.

I am grateful to be on this land and to keep learning about my role here every day.

I recognise race and diversity as places where inequality happens, and acknowledge the privilege I have. I am learning how to be a better ally and anti-racist while confronting my own implicit bias. My business and educational platforms are under construction in these areas and I am committed to educate myself and my children, while being mindful of creating a safe space for the people I interact with.

I stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.
